The final whistle against Fearless Ladies FC did more than confirm an 8-1 victory.
It brought to an end a season that firmly established Kahawa Pride Lionesses as one of the strongest sides in the FKF Nairobi East Women's Regional League.
Playing in a one-legged league format where every team is faced only once and every point carries enormous significance, the Lionesses finished second after an impressive campaign.
Only two teams managed to defeat the Pride all season. Only one other side took points from them. Every other opponent felt the full force of a team that grew stronger with every passing match.
Yet the journey was far from straightforward.
The Lionesses opened the campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Kariobangi Sharks, a result that exposed areas the team needed to improve. Rather than allowing the setback to define their season, the players responded with conviction.
A convincing 4-1 victory over Kayole Starlets sparked what would become one of the league's most entertaining attacking runs. Confidence continued to build as the Lionesses gave RDU a baptism by fire with a 7-1 win before following it up with a commanding 5-1 victory over UEFA.
The momentum continued at home with a 3-1 win over Talanta before another professional performance earned a 2-0 victory against AcaFoa Queens.
By then, the Lionesses had begun to establish themselves among the league's top contenders.
The only interruption to their impressive run came in a tightly contested 1-1 draw against Buruburu Soccer Academy, another side challenging near the summit of the table.
That draw was followed by what would ultimately prove to be the season's defining fixture.
Away to eventual champions Kahawa Queens, the Lionesses battled throughout the contest but suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat. In a league decided over a single round of fixtures, the result proved costly as Kahawa Queens maintained control of the title race.
Rather than allowing disappointment to derail their ambitions, the Lionesses produced one of the strongest finishes to the campaign.
Shrink Pack were beaten 2-1 before the attack exploded into life over the final two matches.
Kamongo Starlets became the first victims, with Kahawa Pride producing a breathtaking 7-0 victory that showcased the fluid attacking football the team had developed throughout the season.
The final league fixture against Fearless Ladies became the perfect ending.
Goals flowed from every area of the pitch as the Lionesses cruised to an emphatic 8-1 victory, surpassing the Kamongo result to register their biggest win of the campaign.
It was a fitting conclusion for a side that had become one of the league's most feared attacking units.
Across 13 league matches, the Lionesses scored an astonishing 44 goals while conceding only 10, averaging well over three goals per game.
Behind those numbers was an attack built on chemistry rather than individual brilliance.
Kenya women's national team all-time leading scorer Neddy Atieno immediately justified her arrival at the club, finishing the season with 15 goals and eight assists in just 11 appearances. Her experience, movement, and leadership transformed the team's attack and provided a focal point around which the rest of the squad flourished.
Alongside her, Grace Njeri enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, contributing 11 goals and five assists in 11 matches despite suffering from a shoulder injury that sent her to surgery missing three matches in the campaign.
Rebecca Munasio also enjoyed an outstanding season. The forward finished with 10 goals and four assists from 12 appearances, producing several match-winning performances during the run-in and developing an increasingly dangerous partnership with Neddy Atieno.
Providing the creative spark behind much of the team's attacking play was Margaret Njeri. Although she scored three goals herself, her seven assists underlined her importance as the link between midfield and attack.
The quartet combined for 39 goals and 24 assists, illustrating the attacking balance that made the Lionesses one of the league's most entertaining teams to watch.
However, the season was about far more than statistics.
After a disrupted opening phase of the campaign and several changes within the squad, the players gradually developed into a cohesive, confident unit capable of dominating matches against any opponent.
The team's willingness to press high, attack with numbers, and trust one another in possession became hallmarks of their style as the season progressed.
By the final whistle of the campaign, the Lionesses had secured second place in the standings and established themselves as genuine contenders within the regional league.
More importantly, they laid a strong foundation for the future.
The 2025/26 season will not simply be remembered for the goals, the victories, or the emphatic scorelines.
It will be remembered as the year Kahawa Pride Lionesses announced themselves.
A team that started the campaign searching for its identity ended it with one of the league's most feared attacks, one of its strongest defensive records, and the belief that even greater achievements lie ahead.
For the Lionesses, the journey is only just beginning.
