The Kahawa Pride FC Alphas have firmly reignited their push for promotion to the FKF Division Two League after an impressive turnaround that has seen the team go unbeaten in their last nine matches.
Currently sitting fourth in the highly competitive 18-team league table, the Alphas have shown resilience and character to recover from a difficult spell earlier in the season and re-enter the title race with 10 matches left to play.
The rough patch began following the club’s 8-0 defeat to Kenya Premier League side Murang’a Seals in the Mozzart Bet Cup. The setback was followed by a string of disappointing league results, including a 1-0 home defeat to Kamongo FC, a 2-0 away loss to RDU, and a 3-0 defeat away to Mentors.
The Alphas eventually found a breakthrough with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Santos Hotspurs, courtesy of a late winner from Felix Kamau. However, another setback followed in the Roysambu derby against fierce rivals Holy Mary FC at Pandpieri, where the team suffered a 2-0 defeat.
The turning point soon arrived.
A commanding 3-1 home victory over then league leaders Westlife United restored belief within the squad, before the team was awarded a walkover win after Mwiki United failed to arrive at the venue on time. Despite narrowly losing 1-0 away to Westlife United in Embakasi through an 89th-minute goal, the performance signaled the beginning of a more competitive and determined side.
The team then held second-placed Embakasi United to a 1-1 draw at home after dominating large spells of the match. An impressive 3-1 away victory against Terror Squad in Mwiki further boosted the team’s momentum and proved to be a defining moment in the club’s resurgence.
Since then, the Alphas have continued to build consistency with positive results across the board. Victories against Soweto Bromley, Holy Mary FC, Lakewood FC, and PAC University have strengthened the club’s position in the standings, while an away draw against Mwiki United maintained the unbeaten streak.
The 2-1 victory over Holy Mary FC was particularly historic, marking the Alpha’s first-ever win against their rivals in the Roysambu derby.
Following a short league break, the team resumed action with another important away victory against Santos Hotspurs, once again decided by Felix Kamau’s clinical finishing. On Madaraka Day, the Alphas were awarded another walkover win after Soweto Allstars failed to honour their fixture, extending the club’s unbeaten run to nine matches.
With the season entering its decisive phase, the Alphas now sit fourth behind Westlife United, Embakasi United, and Kamongo FC, with only one promotion slot available.
Attention now turns to a crucial away fixture against Kamongo FC on Sunday, June 7, where the boys will be aiming to continue their strong run of form and keep their promotion ambitions alive.
