Kahawa Pride FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Domitila Wangui as the club's new Alphas head coach, ushering in a new chapter following the transition of Lawrence "Coach Kim" Kimuhu into a player development role.

Wangui officially took charge of the team for the first time during Sunday's friendly match against Kakuma Pride FC at Nyayo National Stadium, played as part of Kahawa Pride FC's fourth anniversary celebrations.

Although the Alphas fell 2-1 to Kakuma Pride, the occasion marked the beginning of a new era under one of Kenya's most experienced women's football coaches.

Wangui arrives at Kahawa Pride with an impressive coaching résumé spanning Kenya and Botswana, bringing years of experience in player development, tactical planning and guiding teams to promotion.

A CAF C Licensed coach, she has built her reputation by developing competitive teams and nurturing young talent through structured coaching methodologies. Her coaching philosophy places strong emphasis on player development, tactical organization and long-term team growth.

Most recently, Wangui served as Assistant Head Coach of Mazotte Women FC in Botswana between 2024 and 2026, where she played a key role in helping the club secure promotion to the Botswana Women's Premier League.

Before her move to Botswana, she worked with Madira Soccer Assassins Women FC, another club that enjoyed significant progression through the Kenyan women's football pyramid, rising from Division One to the Women's National Super League before eventually earning promotion to the Kenya Women's Premier League.

Her coaching journey has also included a spell at GASPO Women FC, one of Kenya's most successful women's football clubs during the 2010s.

Earlier in her career, Wangui guided Uweza Women Football Club to consecutive promotions, leading the side from the Regional League into Division One and establishing the foundations for continued progress.

Alongside her senior coaching experience, she has remained passionate about youth development, having previously coached at Braeburn International School and Ligi Ndogo Soccer Academy, two environments recognised for developing young footballers.

Wangui joins Kahawa Pride FC at an exciting stage in the club's journey.

She has spent the past week integrating into the club, overseeing three training sessions before leading the Alphas in her first match against Kakuma Pride FC.

The fixture itself carried historical significance.

Played at Nyayo National Stadium, it commemorated four years since Kahawa Pride FC officially launched its new identity at the same venue following the club's rebrand from Kahawa Sportive Soccer Academy. It also celebrated the formation of Kakuma Pride FC, the newest branch of the Pride family established in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Turkana, to extend the club's commitment to community development through football.

While the result did not go Kahawa Pride's way, the match provided Wangui with an early opportunity to assess the squad and begin implementing her ideas ahead of preparations for the new campaign.

Wangui inherits an Alphas side that concluded the 2025/26 FKF Nairobi East Regional League season in third place after a remarkable turnaround during the second half of the campaign.

The team finished with 58 points, recording 18 wins, seven draws and seven defeats while scoring 42 goals and conceding only 22.

The squad also developed a strong identity built around disciplined defending, attacking transitions and the successful integration of academy graduates into senior football.

Those values closely align with Wangui's coaching philosophy and experience in developing players while building competitive teams.

With the season now concluded, the Alphas will enter the off-season under new leadership before preparations begin for the 2026/27 campaign.
