Lionesses Face Uphill Battle After Narrow Defeat as Alphas Prepare for Crucial Away Test

Kahawa Pride Lionesses suffered a narrow setback in their FKF Nairobi East Women’s Regional League promotion chase after falling 1-0 away to league leaders Kahawa Queens in a crucial top-of-the-table encounter.

The highly anticipated fixture carried major significance in the tightly contested promotion race, with the Lionesses seeking a victory that would have brought them level in contention for the league summit. Despite a determined performance away from home, the team fell short against the current league leaders in a closely fought contest.

The defeat leaves Kahawa Pride Lionesses in fourth position on the table, six points behind the leaders, with three matches remaining before the end of the season.

The Lionesses, however, remain mathematically in contention and will now turn their attention to the final stretch of the campaign as they seek to finish strongly. Remaining fixtures against Kamongo Starlets, Shrink Pack, and Fearless Ladies will provide the team with an opportunity to bounce back and close the season on a positive note.

The Lionesses have enjoyed an impressive resurgence during the second half of the season following a difficult and disrupted opening phase of the campaign. After multiple team withdrawals affected the league schedule, the club strengthened the squad significantly during the mid-season period with several experienced additions.

Meanwhile, Kahawa Pride FC Alphas saw their scheduled fixture against Kamongo FC postponed to a later date.

The postponement temporarily halted the men’s team momentum after an impressive run that has seen the Alphas climb back into promotion contention following a difficult period earlier in the season.

The Alphas are currently enjoying a nine-match unbeaten streak in league action and remain in the hunt for promotion with 10 matches left to play in the campaign.

Attention now shifts to Sunday, June 14, when the Alphas will travel away to face Maaji FC as they continue their push for maximum points in the race for promotion to the FKF Division Two League.

With both teams entering the decisive phase of their respective campaigns, Kahawa Pride FC remains focused on finishing the season strongly across both the men’s and women’s competitions.
