Kahawa Pride put in one of their most determined performances of the season, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a narrow 0–1 loss to title contenders Holy Mary FC at Mahiga Primary. Despite dominating long stretches of the match, missed opportunities and a single defensive lapse proved costly.
The first half started on the back foot with key defender J. Macharia arriving late from work and missing the starting eleven. Still, the Pride pressed forward, with Asena squandering an early 1v1 chance. In the 26th minute, a late press from Odindo in central midfield allowed Holy Mary to launch a swift counter. A dangerous cross led to a scramble in the box, and the visitors capitalized — scoring with their only shot on target the entire game.
Managerial changes came quickly, with Kibisu and Odindo subbed out in the 30th minute for B. Macharia and Omondi. The second half saw relentless Pride pressure. Brian Macharia missed a golden 1v1, Gatoto’s looping effort nearly crept in, and Omondi dazzled into the box only to misfire with his weaker foot. In the dying moments, Brian Macharia collided with a defender while missing a free header at an open net.
Frustrations boiled over when the officiating became erratic, culminating in a controversial no-call on Felix Kamau after he nutmegged an opponent and went down under a hard challenge. Fan unrest followed, and Omondi was booked late on.
A gutting loss for Kahawa Pride, who now find themselves needing points — and luck — in the games ahead.
