Kahawa Pride suffered a tough 5–2 away loss to 9th-placed Kayole Stars FC in a game that started with fireworks and ended in frustration. Just 35 seconds in, the home side struck with a well-placed header, exposing poor pressing coordination from the midfield. But the Pride responded with fire: by the 8th minute, goals from Brian Macharia (assisted by Asena) and Felix Kamau (from Macharia’s clever switch pass) turned the tide to 1–2.
The rest of the first half was chaotic. Goved picked up an early yellow for a tactical foul to stop a dangerous break, while Kayole hit the woodwork and Gatoto missed a 1v1. At the break, Kahawa looked hopeful.
But the second half unraveled fast. A turnover by Goved in the 49th minute led to an equalizer. Ten minutes later, Munyora lost possession in midfield, and Kayole capitalized — J. Macharia was booked trying to stop the break, and the resulting free kick was converted.
Things went from bad to worse. After Macharia was sent off in the 74th minute following a second yellow, Kayole netted a penalty from the incident. Despite creating four chances during a brief surge, Kahawa couldn’t finish. With the defense stretched, Zakayo made two strong saves in a 1v1—but the third shot found the net.
Brian Macharia’s injury in the 70th and Mboya’s late exit summed up a day of missed opportunities and mounting pressure. Though the Pride showed moments of real quality, individual errors, fatigue, and poor decision-making proved fatal.
With the relegation line looming, Kahawa must regroup — and fast.
